man on film: portrait. Pentax Program Plus
Does he stare into your soul?
Large format photo shot on a Voigtlander Avus 9×12 camera. The camera was made almost 100 years ago. Diana of Ephesus. I put her with Egyptian images even though she’s not Egyptian.
A long slender branch
cut across your cheek
It left a swollen scratch.
Luminous pink with tiny beads of blood.
I traced your outline
on the pavement
You let your eyes go flat.
I let my mind go blank.
We filled your space with leaves
and clover flowers.
I snapped the branch and placed it
where your cheek was cut.
The curve of a short smile.
The second bus
goes across town.
It takes us past the shipyard
where your grandfather worked.
It takes us home.
The intersection of Sheppard and Bayview, Toronto, Ontario. Shot on film using a Minolta XG1 with a 45mm lens. The intersection ends up looking like a parking lot for that cruise-ship of a building.
Minolta XG1 iso 100 b&w film d76 1:1 10.5 mins. This scan of the negative looks similar to the print I made this morning.
